This TacArtCo desk mat features a modernized take on the legendary Browning Automatic Rifle (BAR)—a platform that blurred the line between rifle and machine gun and changed how infantry fought in the 20th century. The illustration blends the BAR’s unmistakable profile with modern upgrades, pairing classic wood elements with contemporary optics and refined detailing.
Originally designed by John Moses Browning, the BAR was introduced during World War I and went on to serve through World War II and Korea. It was prized for delivering mobile automatic fire, giving infantry squads a level of suppressive capability previously reserved for crew-served weapons. Heavy, hard-hitting, and reliable, the BAR earned a reputation as a battlefield workhorse.
This modernized interpretation imagines the BAR updated for today’s environment—retaining its iconic long-stroke gas system and full-power rifle heritage, while incorporating modern sighting solutions and cleaner ergonomics. The result is a visual fusion of brute force and modern control.
